Life of an ASEAN Scholar (Introduction) & About Me

Foreword Hi everyone! After 3.5 years, I remembered that this diary-like blog existed and suddenly felt a stroke of inspiration to write a little something here... TPE (JC2 Mid year exams) just ended yesterday and I am so so tired out from everything...I feel so bad for my friends who still have exams until next Tues/Wed THANK GOODNESS I am done !!! ANYWAYS I wanted to be able to give myself a few days of rest after TPEs, but I didn't want to just doomscroll all day, so I decided that this would be a fun and meaningful thing to do! So for the next few days, I will try and write little bits about my experience in Singapore and those of my friends and fellow scholars. Disclaimer though, that my stories will vary from other scholars and definitely from yours (if you become an ASEAN scholar too), so take everything with a HUGE pinch of salt.  About Me I will provide an awful lot of details about me so that it can help you to contextualise certain things sooo if its too much feel free t...

ASEAN Selection Interview

 ASEAN Selection Interview I think they cut down the most people after the selection tests, and at least 20% of interview applicants get the actual scholarship (based on my own data from my yr so might be diff every yr), so congrats yall! The interview is a friendly conversation, so no need to panic or worry. Before the Interview I waited outside until 15 minutes before my scheduled interview, then was lead into a silent waiting room with a person checking my ic and documents. Then I just sat and waited until they called my name and check my documents again, then waited for another 5 minutes before the staff lead me to a room with a laptop and headphones. When you are waiting in the waiting room, chances are you won't get a chance to review your interview notes or anything so procrastinating your last min revision outside or on the car is NOT the best idea. Also, for me, there was a guy who was speaking damn loud so don't be surprised if that happens to you too (ill explain why...

ASEAN Selection Test

  ASEAN Selection Test  Congratulations on getting the offer to the selection tests! The journey you shall embark on will be a survival battle of endless preparation and information hunting, so brace yourselves. But don't worry, it will all be worth it in the end because not only do you stand a higher chance of getting the scholarship but also because when you go to your normal lessons you will find yourself unbelievably smarter than before and your grades (especially in maths) will have improved tremendously. Anyways, in previous years, they have 4 different tests: 1. Maths Test 2. English Comprehension  3. English Essay 4. Some sort of General Knowledge/Aptitude Test that I hear is kind of like a Raven's Test HOWEVER, for the selection test I participated in, we did not have the last Aptitude Test.  Registration Always finish any last-minute revision in the car.
